Woodside Nippers
A Fun and Safe Start to Surf Life Saving
What is Woodside Nippers?
The Woodside Nippers programme at Esperance Goldfields SLSC is designed to help children develop beach and water safety skills in a fun, inclusive environment. Each week, Nippers participate in activities like sprints, flags, swimming, and board paddling, which promote fitness, confidence, and vital surf lifesaving skills. Sessions include a balance of friendly competition and participation, offering pathways for those interested in the competitive side of Surf Life Saving.
Who Can Join?
The EGSLSC Woodside Nippers programme is open to children aged 5-13. Age groups are determined by each child’s age at the beginning of the surf season. For instance, if a child is 9 at the season's start but turns 10 during the season, they’ll still be grouped as Under 9.

When Do Nippers Meet?
Woodside Nippers sessions run on Sundays from 9:00 am to 10:30 am throughout the season. Please arrive early so your child can prepare before activities start promptly at 9:00 am. Parents or carers are required to stay on the beach for the entire session each Sunday, helping create a supportive and safe environment for all participants.

In addition to weekly sessions, Nippers can participate in several major events throughout the season held at various locations across the state. EGSLSC also offers optional weekly training sessions at Twilight Beach, providing extra opportunities to improve beach and surf skills.
